New Fire Station – Second Phase

The second phase of the construction of the new Fish Camp fire station is underway.   The first phase, tree removal, was completed by the owners of Yosemite Mountain Ranch and funded by the Fish Camp Fire Rescue Association.  These pictures show work done during the second phase on April 18, 2011.  Snow is being removed to help dry out the site.  The snow depths were up to 5 feet in shady areas.  During the month of May a drainage diversion will be dug on the uphill portion to allow melting snow run-off around the construction site.

Mariposa County Fire Department Smoke Alarm Inspection & Replacement Program

More than 3,000 people die in home fires each year in the United States; most of whom are in homes without a working smoke alarm. To prevent these deaths, the U.S. Fire Administration (USFA), a division of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is sponsoring a nationwide Install. Inspect. Protect. Campaign designed to raise awareness about how working, properly installed smoke alarms can lower a person’s chances of dying in a fire.

Install. Inspect. Protect. Smoke alarms save lives.

If your smoke alarm was installed more than 10 years ago, it needs to be replaced. Find Out More at the U.S. Fire Administration’s web site. »
